Accounts & imports
Check a statement before adding it to Deco
Add accounts manually or import supported CSV, Excel and broker files. Bring spending, budgets and net worth into one view for free on iPhone.
A file import brings the records you supply into a manual account. Review their meaning and period first; selecting an institution does not connect to your bank.
Current connection availability
Live bank connections and Deco Plus subscriptions are not available in the current release. Selecting an institution or importing a statement does not create an automatic bank connection. The provider information below is for reference only.
Four checks before confirmation
Export booked movements in one currency
Choose the statement period and booked transactions. Keep the original dates, amounts and opening and closing balances. Separate currencies; pending movements may change.
Check columns and direction
Match date, description and amount. Check day/month order and decimal format against the source. Make sure money received is incoming and money paid is outgoing.
Review rows and overlaps
Compare included and excluded rows with the source. Check repeated transactions, refunds and card settlements. Duplicate matching does not prove every overlap or legitimate repeat was handled correctly.
Reconcile, then confirm
Compare opening balance plus net movements with the closing balance for the same account and period. Investigate differences. Check destination and currency before confirming the cloud save.
Keep the source statement beside the preview
- Same account, currency and statement period.
- Booked dates and amount signs match the source.
- Excluded rows and overlapping imports are understood.
- Own transfers and card repayments are not counted twice.
Map statement direction and check a booked period
Public guidance needs no file. The signed-in browser workspace is a private preview; statement importing remains available in Deco for iPhone.
One signed amount
Choose one amount column and its sign convention. Preserve the correct direction of money entering and leaving the account.
Separate incoming and outgoing amounts
Choose each column explicitly. Values must be non-negative; a blank side means zero. A row with both sides positive is ambiguous and excluded as a transaction.
Amount with a chosen marker
Choose the magnitude and direction columns and distinct incoming/outgoing markers. Matching ignores outer spaces and letter case, but otherwise requires an exact marker; unknown markers are excluded.
Choose the account, currency and source period
Use one account’s booked movements and the same date/balance basis. CSV, XLS, XLSX and plain delimited TXT are supported, not PDF or OFX. Bank exports vary; choose source columns and review rows.
Map and select valid rows
Review dates and direction; include or exclude valid rows. Selection cannot repair invalid rows. Balance-column import is separate: manual exclusions limit it to selected valid rows; otherwise original-source balance extraction remains. Check dates and values independently.
Enter the booked balances
For the optional check, enter signed opening and actual closing balances and inclusive booked dates. Choose the source currency explicitly, including historical BGN if needed; changing a currency never converts values.
Review the diagnostic before confirmation
Expected closing = opening + selected incoming − selected outgoing. Difference = actual − expected, before cloud duplicate removal. The checker does not update balances/history; an enabled check must be current and match before confirmation.
Invented balance-check example
In arbitrary units: opening 1000 + incoming 300 − outgoing 120 = expected closing 1180. If the entered actual closing is 1200, the difference is +20. Review the source; this is not a balance adjustment.
A match is arithmetic, not proof of completeness or correctness: omissions and duplicates can cancel. Parsing/checking occurs in the browser; confirming saves parsed cloud records. Balance-column importing remains separate. Currency selection does not convert amounts or connect to a bank.
A balance check with invented amounts
All amounts below use one unspecified currency. These are made-up values, not typical spending or a bank export.
- Opening balance: 1,000; incoming pay: +2,000.
- Rent: −800; groceries: −120; net movement: +1,080.
- 1,000 + 2,000 − 800 − 120 = closing balance 2,080.
A matched transfer of −300 and +300 between your own accounts cancels only in a combined view; each account’s balance still changes. This is a manual check, not automatic transfer detection.
What is available here
This public help is readable without a file. Statement importing is available in Deco for iPhone. The signed-in browser workspace is an access-controlled private preview, not a public uploader.
Where confirmed records go
In the private browser preview, the file is read and columns mapped in your browser. Confirming saves parsed account records to your signed-in Deco cloud workspace. Review the destination before confirming.
What this review does not establish
Use one currency and the source period. Currency selection labels amounts, not conversion. Malformed, future-dated and zero-amount bank rows can be excluded. Period net movement is not a verified current balance; check dated bank balances. Exclusions here refer to transaction rows. Balance-column dates and amounts need separate checking.
Frequently asked questions
Does a manual import create a live bank connection?
No. Selecting an institution or importing a file does not create automatic synchronization. Live connections and Deco Plus subscriptions are unavailable in the current release.
Does choosing a currency convert the statement?
No. Use the currency actually shown by the source and the destination account. Split mixed-currency files; a different label is not an exchange-rate conversion.
Does a matching balance prove every row is correct?
No. Errors can cancel. Check rows, dates, signs and overlaps as well as opening and closing balances. A period’s net movement alone is not the current account balance.
Stripe Financial Connections
United States
Stripe publishes its own U.S. institution directory. It describes the provider network, not banks that can currently be connected in Deco. Bank verification coverage can also differ from balance and transaction coverage.
Stripe institution directory ↗Synci
Europe, the UK and New Zealand
Synci publishes a directory of institutions available through its financial-data partners. Its directory is background information for possible future connections; it does not make those connections available in Deco today.

The connection details below apply only to an existing, test or future connection where enabled. Manual accounts and file imports do not require your online-banking password.
What you share, and why
With your permission, Deco retrieves account details, balances and transactions to build your budget, identify recurring costs and show your financial position. Connecting an account does not authorize Deco to move money or place trades.
Your permission comes first
You choose which accounts to share in the provider-hosted flow and review its permissions and terms before connecting. Deco does not receive or store your online-banking password. You can use manual accounts and statement imports without linking a bank.
How connected data is protected
Stripe or Synci, their financial-data partners, your bank and Deco process only the data you authorize and that is needed to connect and sync. Deco protects stored records with provider encryption, authenticated access and row-level security that restricts records to their owner.
What “Last synced” means
Last synced shows when Deco last retrieved data from the connection provider. It is not a guarantee that the bank has updated its records at that moment. New transactions and balances can be delayed, and some connections require renewed consent.
Manage, disconnect or delete
Open the connected account in Deco to manage it. Synci connections open a secure management portal for renewal and connection settings. Disconnecting stops future syncing and lets you keep the account as a manual record. Deleting an account and its history removes that account from Deco.
Provider terms and privacy
Read the notices for the provider you choose, alongside Deco’s own policies. Each explains its processing and retention responsibilities.
