See the U.S. household percentiles by age in the table below, from the Federal Reserve’s 2022 Survey of Consumer Finances.
U.S. household wealth by age
Compare your household net worth with U.S. households by age of the reference person, using the 2022 Federal Reserve survey. This is a U.S. benchmark even when you live elsewhere.
If you have ever read that the typical person your age has some number that felt impossibly high, it was almost certainly an average. The median is the one that answers what is normal.
Median against average, by age
U.S. households, grouped by age of the reference person. Deco computes these five-year age groups from the Fed's public 2022 microdata, applying survey weights within each of five imputations and averaging the estimates. Values are nominal 2022 USD, with no inflation update. Net worth includes home equity. These are U.S. benchmarks, not local wealth percentiles for other countries.
